If you have a PSP lurking in the drawer at home, it’s worth looking at it – it could be a big problem –

A poorly aging battery can cause serious problems.

It’s been more than 10 years since Sony officially discontinued the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The Japanese company has sold more than 82 million copies of the device, so it’s likely that many people still have a working piece in their accounts. Now, however, it will be worth looking for the iconic handheld, especially to make sure of its condition.

As you know, lithium-ion batteries can deform and swell over time, especially after two decades, which can cause serious damage to devices. This is also the case with PSPs: in recent days, several posts have surfaced on social media showing bloated batteries in Sony’s handheld consoles.

The biggest problem is that a swollen battery can damage other parts of the console and even render the device completely inoperable. If the battery suddenly explodes, not only the objects in the drawer, but also the furniture itself can be damaged – according to some reports, some people’s apartments were damaged as a result.

The joy in the joy is that the PSP is relatively easy to assemble, so the battery can be easily checked and removed if necessary, and a completely new one can be purchased for a few thousand forints. However, it is important to remember that swollen batteries do not belong in the trash: hazardous waste must always be placed in the collection containers designed for this purpose.
