iFixit teardown reveals internal secrets

With the arrival of theApple Watch Series 10we were all impressed by the new design, even if not as radical as some expected. The device is significantly thinner and offers larger displays than previous models. For those who are always curious to see what is hidden under the shell of Apple products, iFixit has published its classic teardown video that shows us what’s inside the new smartwatch.

L’Apple Watch Series 10 it is a concentration of technology, not only aesthetically, but also inside. However, as highlighted by iFixit, this compactness makes the device more difficult to disassemble and repair. To access the internal components, the display must be heated to be able to remove it, and the gap between the glass and the metal is incredibly narrow: only 0.176 millimeters. This precision construction helps improve the water resistance of the Apple Watch.

One of the most interesting innovations is represented by the antennas on Cellular modelsnow integrated directly into the case structure. This solution allows you to optimize space and improve performance, while maintaining a clean design.

After removing the screen, iFixit immediately noticed the presence of the Taptic Engine and of 1,266 Wh battery in the 46mm version, a capacity similar to that of previous generations. Unlike what happens on iPhones, the Apple Watch battery is fixed with a simple adhesive, therefore relatively easy to remove.

Another discovery concerns the OLED display. Although Apple claims that the Series 10 panel has been improved to offer visibility from multiple angles, the structure seems very similar to that of previous models. Accessing sensors, such as those dedicated to health, is still quite complicated, as they are located under many other components, making repairs of these parts particularly difficult.

A thinner design, but difficult to repair

Despite the new slimmer design and the improvement of some features such as more powerful speakers and fast charging, iFixit he assigned to the Series 10 a score of 3 are 10 in terms of repairability. This score reflects the difficulty of disassembling and repairing the smartwatch, a challenge that becomes increasingly common with advanced wearables like the Apple Watch.
