The 33rd Olympic Games of the new era began in Paris. A planetary event whose title has, while they last, the stopping of all intolerance, envy, bad thoughts and, above all, war conflicts and fights except those for prestige and medals.

However, just one day after the spectacular opening, the agencies announced the continuation of bloody and destructive actions in the sub-regions of the war zones between Ukraine and Russia, that is, Israel and Palestine, or more specifically, its militant group Hamas.

The only thing is, if some kind of flying monster the size of several Eiffel Towers appeared near the planet, like some kind of comet or meteor, warlike and “fearless” mythomaniacs would ask to change their underwear and hide in reinforced “mouse” holes. Shame. Civilization defeat!

However, our industrial, post-industrial, market and other murky “games” and “struggles” are not only accompanying, but an inseparable part of all spheres of work and life. Their characteristics are callousness, fierce competition, misunderstanding and disrespect.

This is the basic framework of the Olympics of our reality, which is often just an illusion compared to the oldest and most crowded sports competition.

As for agriculture, that is, food producers, that activity is in constant tension and the aforementioned “games”. It is only thanks to dedicated people who stepped deeply into the furrow, as well as far-sighted futurists, that we are truly lucky that we are not starving. It’s not a pun, it’s the truth!

BUTTER FROM NOTHING

In such circumstances, they would be slaughtered, but among the planetary saints of this age there is also the well-known Bill Gates, the founder of “Microsoft”, who invests his huge sums in the development of visionary projects for food production. After the schnitzel “fattened” in laboratory conditions, which normally started to meet consumers at the beginning of the year, Gates started the production of butter, i.e. butter from nothing.

It’s not really out of nowhere, because he still used water and air for that delicate nourishment. Farmers in any part of the world should not be afraid of this innovation, because their presence is very important both in the food industry and in biodiversity and its balance.

However, in this way, they were made aware that they should take more account of environmental protection and reduce the impact on the effect of the so-called “glass” garden, that is, global warming.

The production of butter from “nothing” has reached the pre-commercial stage, and according to Gates himself, when tasting it, he could not notice the difference compared to classically made butter.

THEY HAVE RACE HORSES TOO

Just like Bill Gates, dedicated to all his projects, our farmers also celebrate, thanks to God, the fertile land, their sweat and perseverance for a good harvest, harvest and other benefits. It is not a question of any fair trades, as is usually thought, but designed and sincere intentions to show gratitude and respect for the good family.

In extraordinary weather circumstances, i.e. a temperature of plus 40 degrees Celsius, they did not give up on the traditional “Bostanijada” in Osipaonica. A large number of watermelon and cantaloupe producers gathered, all with the intention of confirming that their efforts were not in vain. Yes, they also have a “racehorse” when it comes to the weight and sweetness of cantaloupe and melon.

Luka Jovanović from Osipaonica, whose winning watermelon weighed 37.6 kilograms, rejoiced as if he had won an Olympic medal.

Just a few weeks ago, a “Tomato Fest” event was organized in Lebanon in honor of this vegetable. Producers from that part of Serbia had something to show, but also to criticize the relevant Ministry for allowing the uncontrolled import of tomatoes, which are inferior in quality and price compared to domestic ones.

The participants of the “Družionica” of the traditional custom of Bunjavics and Croats from the area of Sombor, this summer also expressed their gratitude for the good harvest, first of all, grain. They start the event by bringing the host of the town bread that they have kneaded from wheat of the latest crop.

For more than half a century in Brankovina near Valjevo, the most successful raspberry producers from Koluma and neighboring districts have gathered. Some words of criticism can be heard on it, but mostly it shows respect for the red fruits of the magical fruit tree…

COWS AS ENVIRONMENTAL BOMBS

The games that agriculture and paori often fall into can be surprising, but also humiliating. Namely, two cows were identified as the biggest environmental problem in the area of the Kopaonik tourist destination.

They did not occupy any apartment, but were located in a weekend complex owned by a temporary married couple. In addition to two cows, they also take care of two calves and one pig.

They make cheese and cream from cow’s milk, which they offer to weekenders and interested tourists. However, one of the “white-collar workers” from the municipality of Raška, on whose territory the weekend settlement is located, decided that the owner should move the cows out of the area within a month, explaining that they are an ecological problem for that destination. They just needed to add the “ecological bomb” qualification.

The Nemanjic founders of the Serbian state in Stara Raška themselves would be baptized with both their left and right hands at this decision. But, without returning to the past, the relationship towards agriculture and food producers is constantly in a “game” whose choreography is in charge of all kinds of tupamaros. To put it mildly.

HOEING THE CORN

In the “fight” for lithium mining, i.e. the ban on doing something like that, after strong exclusivity on one side and the other, more ideas for reasonable conversation and dialogue appear. In the National Assembly, MP Nenad Mitrović, from the opposition, proposed to organize a group of 50 people of all professions and party affiliations and send them to Australia to see the lithium mine of the company “Rio Tinto” and its impact on the environment.

At the same time, the idea of forming a parliamentary commission for the reasoned opening of the discussion on lithium mining was launched. According to the mood of those who are most radically involved in the issue, it is unlikely that they will agree to the mentioned proposal, so that the last option remains, as announced by the President of the Republic of Serbia, the organization of a referendum where the citizens will express their verdict.

While all this was going on, agriculture appeared as collateral damage. From that sector, a significant number of activists turned out to be the staunchest opponents of mining, which is why the leading spokesmen of the ruling party took them to task.

So quite unexpectedly, they marked agriculture as one of the biggest polluters of the environment, illustrating it with the comment: that the field is no longer dug with a hoe, but that everything ends with chemistry.

Such a call to yesterday’s economic and social trust is not only inappropriate, but it is a kind of lithium “game” in which many people will be involved, whether they like it or not. It is not impossible that pigeon breeders will one day be on that list. High flyer!!!
