Ikea power banks are a fire hazard. If you have these models, return them to the store as soon as possible!

IKEA has launched a major recall of products that pose a fire risk!

The Swedish IKEA chain has become known as a brand that takes care of the quality and safety of its customers at every step. But if you follow the recalls of products, you probably haven’t missed the fact that even this giant has its share of mishaps. Now, the company has announced the recall of two models of VARMFRONT power banks. This applies to both the 10,400 mAh (model E2038) and 5,200 mAh (model E2037) capacities. The reason? Power banks can pose a fire risk.

The devices in question are (the reference numbers in brackets are (year/week):

  • Model E2038 (10 400 mAh): 2313, 2316, 2318, 2319
  • Model E2037 (5 200 mAh): 2318, 2319, 2322

If you are one of the customers who purchased any of the above power banks, the network urges you to immediately stop using them and contact the company as soon as possible to exchange the product or obtain a full refund.

Why do these batches of power banks need to be returned to the store? The company explains

The giant repeatedly emphasizes in its statement about the problems that its products undergo detailed quality tests. But sometimes, despite this, something goes wrong — and now the company has been informed of a potential fire risk associated with a manufacturing defect in the aforementioned chargers.

The return procedure is not complicated. It can be done in any store, and proof of purchase is not required in this case. All you need to do is contact the employees, who will direct you to the appropriate window to complete all formalities. Unfortunately, it seems that it is not possible to do it remotely – but considering the reason for the withdrawal of the devices, it is hard to be surprised.
