(Incheon = Newsis) Reporter Kim Dong-young = A domestic fishing boat was caught by the Coast Guard engaging in illegal fishing in a specific sea area near Daecheong Island, the northernmost part of the West Sea.

The Incheon Maritime Police Station announced on the 7th that it had booked Mr. A (50s), the captain of a 55-ton trap fishing boat, without detention on charges of violating the Fishing Vessel Safety Operating Act.

Mr. A is suspected of fishing without a permit in a specific sea area 53km south of Daecheong Island, Ongjin-gun, Incheon, at 7:37 p.m. on the 6th.

After receiving the report, the Coast Guard dispatched a security vessel and arrested Mr. A.

Specific sea areas are areas where fishing and navigation of fishing boats are restricted among the waters south of the fishing limit line in the East and West Seas. Only licensed fishing boats are allowed to fish or operate in this area.

A Coast Guard official said, “We have determined that the fishing boat in question came from the South Sea,” and “We are investigating the specific circumstances of Mr. A.”
