Illegal in 140 countries! The presenter faced sexist comments because of her clothes – Other – Football

On October 27, the famous Italian TV presenter Diletta Leotta went to work like many times before. The Serie A match between Inter and Juventus was in front of her and she knew it was a very important night of the season.

Leotta has been working for many years as a presenter on the DAZN station, and in Italy she is a familiar face among millions of fans, as the mentioned channel has been covering events in Serie A for several years.

In addition to her journalistic work, she is also popular for her appearance. She has been the target of criticism several times for her appearance and style of dressing. Football fans got excited again before the Inter-Juventus hit. She wore a red skirt with a jacket of the same color, black stockings and high heels.

A closely-watched weekend game ended in a 4-4 tie, and Leotta worked from the sideline, reporting, interviewing before, during and after the 90 minutes of play as she has done. But after the meeting, she had to endure a wave of criticism because of her outfit.

On Instagram, where she is followed by 9.1 million, the 33-year-old presenter was bombarded with inappropriate comments that resembled sexist outbursts from disgruntled people.

They pointed out that she is too thin, that she has big feet, that she is probably wearing very expensive clothes that are inappropriate. She was criticized for looking more like a person who went to Milan for fashion week than for a football match…

“Illegal in 140 countries,” wrote one of her followers, while another said: “Not classy.” A third asked if she was wearing panties and another ironically called her outfit a classic journalistic outfit.

Earlier this year, her Italian colleague Paola Ferrari commented on Leotta as follows: “She is good at her job and provides a lot of advertising income. But if you ask me if I want my daughter to turn out like her, the answer is no.’

For the newspaper Corriere della Sera, she comments on her clothing, which is often the topic of conversation in Italy. “I want to dress nice when I’m at work. When I’m free, I dress differently. More convenient. I prefer my husband to see me more naturally. For example, in tracksuits and not high heels.’

In the past, she explained to the Italian media several times that the criticism she often receives only strengthens her. “When I started and I was only 20 years old, it hurt a lot. I also cried when I got home. But it ended up bringing out the lioness in me and I learned a lot from it,” she told Sky Sports.

She is in a private relationship with soccer goalkeeper Loris Karius. They met in the fall of 2022 in London, became the parents of a daughter last summer – and got married in June of this year.
