Illustrator Pedro Oyarbide has made an alternative version of the iconic cover of La Riada, from the Blackwater saga, in a charity print that honors the strength of the Valencian people. “We will rebuild. “No oblidarem”, you can read on the cover.
The screen printing, in two inks, can be purchased through the web blackwaterambelpoble.com. All proceeds from the sale of the print will be donated to the Horta Sud Foundation.
“Like any citizen of Valencia, I am absolutely devastated by the destruction that DANA has caused to our land. During the last few days, like so many others, I have visited the disaster and have helped in the cleanup tasks of the affected towns. In all this time, I have not been able to stop connecting what happened with the first cover of the saga, whose story begins just after a flood destroys the town of Perdido,” the artist explained.
Oyarbide wanted to “pay tribute to the many people who have lost everything, and to the thousands of Valencians who have united and organized quickly in the face of the ineptitude, delay, and terrible management of public administrations.” “Although I am from Madrid, I also feel like I am from here; These days, more than ever. Together, we will rebuild. Together, we will not forget,” he added.
Somewhere there is something you need to read.
