Imminent launch for iPhone SE 4 and iPad 11?

We could be one step away from launching the new iPhone SE and the new iPad 11. According to recent rumors coming from a reliable source, these devices could debut by the end of January, accompanied by the release of iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3.

A private account on X, known for the accuracy of its iOS leaks, he revealed that devices with the codes “V59” and “J481” will launch alongside new versions of iOS and iPadOS. According to Bloomberg, the codename “V59” refers to the new iPhone SE, while “J481” indicates the new entry-level iPad 11.

While the iPhone SE is traditionally announced between March and April, this year the launch could be brought forward to January. A plausible reason for this choice could be linked to compliance with European Union regulations, which require the adoption of the USB-C connector. Apple recently removed the current iPhone SE with Lightning port from the EU market, and the introduction of a new, already compliant model could bring the device back to shelves more quickly.

The new iPhone SE should be inspired by the design of the iPhone 14, finally abandoning the dated aesthetics of the current model. Here are the main expected specifications:

  • Display: 6.1 inch OLED.
  • Processor: new chip from the A series.
  • Camera: single 48 megapixel.
  • RAM: 8GB, to support advanced Apple Intelligence features.
  • Modem 5G: the first designed entirely by Apple.
  • Connectivity: USB-C, definitively abandoning Lightning.

It is not yet clear whether the device will include the Action Button, introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro.

As for the iPad 11, we are talking about a device that will maintain the aesthetics of the previous model but will integrate improved features to support Apple Intelligence. Expected specifications include:

  • Chip more advanced than the iPad 10’s A14.
  • RAM: 8GB, necessary to take advantage of the new features based on artificial intelligence.
  • Design: no radical changes, following the line of the iPad 10 launched in October 2022.

According to Gurman, before the debut of the new iPhone SE and iPad 11, Apple could unveil the long-awaited 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air with M4 chip. If the trend of past years repeats itself, these hardware updates could be announced in the coming weeks.
