Impressive in all their new Oppo Find X8 and X8 Pro

For the rest of the time to come, Oppo officially suggests you try its new premium phones Find X8/X8 Pro which were just announced at a special event in China. The two all-new models are shaping up to be contenders for the title “phone of the year”. The Chinese company has gone for a redesigned look this year with the more compact Find X8 that comes with the Find X8 Pro.

Let’s first dwell on the features of the Find X8, where it brings a flat 6.59-inch LTPO OLED with FHD+ resolution and 1-120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the new Find X8 Pro offers a slightly larger 6.78-inch LTPO OLED with the same resolution and refresh rate and a more interesting micro-quad-curved display, which looks like a flat screen but has subtle curves on both four sides.

Both panels are rated with maximum overall brightness of 1,600 nits and maximum local brightness of up to 4,500 nits for HDR content. You also get 32MP selfie cameras and optical fingerprint scanners.

Now on to the most interesting new additions – let’s talk cameras.

This year Oppo offers the most versatile camera systems we’ve seen to date with the Find X8 series, and it starts with the design Cosmos Ring for the camera subframe. It is noticeably smaller than the outgoing generation Find X7 and houses an impressive hardware.

Dominating the Find X8 gets a 50MP main camera using a Sony LYT-700 sensor – a 1/1.56″ sensor with a 24mm equivalent lens and OIS. It’s paired with an equivalent 15mm 50MP ultra-wide module (ISOCELL HN5) with autofocus. The third sensor is a 3x 73mm periscope armed with an IMX882 sensor (1/1.95″ size) with OIS. It uses a triple prism design that takes up less space than standard periscope lenses.

The Find X8 Pro’s larger form factor allowed Oppo to add a second 50MP periscope lens with 6x optical zoom. It uses a 1/2.51” IMX858 sensor size with f/4.3 aperture and OIS.

Both the 50MP 3x telephoto and ultra-wide sensor are carried over from the standard Find X8, while the 50MP main lens has a larger 1/1.4″ LYT-808 sensor.

Another distinct new change concerning the two phones is that they have the image engine HyperTone by Oppo. Merges 9 RAW frames into each photo for peak sharpness and dynamic range while reducing noise and artifacts. OR operation Hasselblad Portrait is also present and Oppo is also adding a new LivePhoto option, which records short videos before and after taking a photo.

Influenced by the new era, Oppo decided for the Pro model to put a dedicated camera button, which it calls “Quick Button”. It can activate the camera app with a double tap, serve as a dedicated shutter and also allow you to zoom in and out of shots. Oppo is also bringing back the notification slider.

The Find X8 series is one of Oppo’s first phones to launch with the chipset Dimensity 9400. The chipset is combined with a new cooling system with a graphite layer, vapor chamber and thermal conductive paste inserted directly into the motherboard.

Both phones will boot with ColorOS 15 recently announced, which brings multiple AI modes on the table along with a redesigned look.

Inside the Find X8 is a 5,630 mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the X8 Pro has a larger 5,910 mAh cell. Both support 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging and are water and dust resistant (IP69).
