During this period, the MINISTRY of Village Care has successfully implemented a number of programs for the revival of villages.
The program of settlement of abandoned rural houses exceeded all expectations, 870 homes were allocated this year alone. So far, 3,520 rural households have been revived. As much as one third of the applicants moved to live from the city to the village. Their average age is 29.8 years.
Minister for Rural Care, Milan Krkobabić, emphasized that no part of Serbia has been neglected:
– The demographic picture has changed, and through our programs we have managed to keep young people in the countryside. In Sombor, 212 houses were allocated, and among the Vojvodina villages, Bačko Petrovo selo is the most notable with 103 homes. A new crèche was also opened there. Lightning results were our goal. Other parts of the country were not neglected either, in the vicinity of Aleksinac and Pirot, 43 houses were inhabited, in the village of Željuša, the light shines again in seven houses and children’s cries are heard again. On behalf of the winners of the country houses, the Ministry thanked the Vujović family, who moved from Belgrade to the village of Brajkovići near Kosjerić, the Janjin family, who exchanged tenant life in Novi Sad for life in the village of Đurđevo, while the Bakaići came from Ada in Vojvodina.
This year, another 17 minibuses were purchased from the funds of the ministry, which will be used by residents of four municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija to transport their residents. The renovation of 19 village centers of culture and cooperative centers in villages throughout Serbia will also begin. The public contest received 84 applications from 24 districts.
