In Ain, TotalEnergies inaugurates a 28.5 MWp solar power plant on Ceva Logistics car parks

On November 8, TotalEnergies inaugurated a new solar power plant in Blyes (Ain), on the Plaine de l’Ain (Pipa) industrial park. The French group invested 28 million euros in this installation which deploys 58,000 panels over 12 hectares of car park shades. “The project was carried out without interrupting Ceva’s activity,” underlines Thierry Dutilloy, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes regional director of TotalEnergies.

This 28.5 MWp plant will produce 34 GWh per year, the equivalent of the consumption of 15,000 inhabitants. The French energy giant will reinject this electricity into the network. For its part, Ceva Logitics, a subsidiary of CMA CGM specializing in car transport, is responding to the obligation imposed on companies to cover their parking lots with solar panels. Other projects are also underway in Pipa, one of the largest industrial zones in France located around thirty minutes east of Lyon.

Objective: 500 MWp in 2030

TotalEnergies has the ambition to reach “500 MWp of renewable energies in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region”, says Thierry Dutilloy. The energy company, known for its Feyzin refinery (Rhône) and its flares above the A7 motorway, now has 26 operational sites in renewable energies, for a total power of 102 MWp. In addition to the Blyes solar power plant, it has just connected a 3 MWp hydroelectric power plant in Saint-Gervais (Haute-Savoie) to the network. This should be inaugurated in spring 2025.

«We have 111 MWp under development in this department of Ain», assures Thierry Dutilloy. TotalEnergies is preparing to cover the assembly plant of the manufacturer Renault Trucks in Bourg-en-Bresse with solar panels.

The group chaired by Patrick Pouyanné employs more than 2,400 people in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. In addition to Feyzin, it has a site specializing in gases and lubricants in Saint-Priest (Rhône), a processing unit for additives and special fuels for motorsport in Givors (Rhône), as well as a center for research in SAF and carbon-free mobility in Solaize (Rhône), which employs 250 researchers.
