In August, 10.4% fewer building permits were issued compared to last year

According to the data of the Republic Institute of Statistics, a total of 2,578 construction permits were issued in August 2024, which represents a decrease of 10.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. Of the total number of permits, 83.7% refer to the construction of buildings, while the remaining 16.3% are intended for other construction facilities.

When it comes to buildings, 81.7% of the issued permits were for residential buildingswhile 18.3% of permits were issued for non-residential buildings. In the category of other construction facilities, the largest part of permits refers to pipelines, communication and electrical lines, which make up 72.9% of total permits.

According to permits issued in August, the construction of 3,070 new apartments is planned in Serbia. The average area of ​​the apartments is 71.2 square meters.

Of the total number of apartments in new residential buildings, 11.6% of apartments will be built in buildings with one apartment, whereby the average area of ​​these apartments will be 144.5 square meters. On the other hand, 87% of apartments will be built in buildings with three or more apartments, and their average area will be 59.0 square meters.

When looking at the value of the planned works, new construction makes up to 87.3% of the total estimated value of the works.

The greatest construction activity is expected in the Belgrade region, with 26.2% of the total value of new construction. The next largest is Braničevska Oblast with 22.6%, followed by Nišavska Oblast (8.0%), Juznobačka Oblast (7.5%), Šumadija Oblast (5.5%) and Raška Oblast (5.0%). The remaining areas recorded participation from 0.1% to 4.9%.
