37 shops were burnt down by mosquito coil fire in Akmal Ali Ghat area of EPZ police station of Chittagong city. However, no one was injured.
The incident took place on Saturday (November 16) around 12:00 pm in the Akmal Ali Ghat area adjacent to the Outer Ring Road. Fire Service Chittagong divisional control room operator Nazrul Islam confirmed this.
He said, ‘We received information about the fire around 12:00 pm. Two units of CEPZ and KEPZ fire stations brought the fire under control after 2 hours of effort. In this, 37 shops, including residences, restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, hardware stores, fishermen’s nets were burnt.
He said that the fire started from the mosquito coil of the residence.
