When you work on a document in Google Docs, it often happens that you also want to insert an image. You can pick a suitable image from the internet, but Google now comes with a built-in AI generator that can tailor images for you.
You can add an image from the images menu in Google Docs. There you click on ‘Help me create an image’, after which you write down what you would like to see 9to5Google. You can choose different shapes such as square and rectangle.
You also need to give the generated image a style. You can choose from Photography, Vector art, Sketch, Watercolor, Cyberpunk, or I’m feeling lucky. Once you have completed all the steps, the AI image will appear. You can also create full-page images.
For the feature, Google uses Imagen 3, a special AI model developed for image creation. “It can generate images with even more detail, richer lighting and fewer distracting artifacts than our previous models,” writes Google that yourself. The AI picture function will be introduced in phases in the coming weeks.
First only for paying customers
Unfortunately, the new Google Docs feature will not be available to everyone. To get started with it, you must be a Google Workspace user. You also need one of the Google Gemini subscriptions, including Gemini Advanced, which is part of Google One AI Premium and costs 21.99 euros per month. You can try that subscription for free for a month.
Google also launched the Gemini iOS app earlier this week, which, unlike the Apple Intelligence functions, already works in the Netherlands.
