Greek engineers assure that the laser system was created exclusively in cooperation with local companies based on parts produced in Greece. Thanks to this, if a conflict breaks out between NATO countries, Greece will not be dependent on other countries for parts and service. Many countries in their pursuit of powerful weapons still forget about this, and it can be a matter of life or death during war.
The Ministry of Defense of Greece does not hide the fact that a powerful laser cannon for destroying unmanned aerial vehicles was created out of fear of the outbreak of a large-scale armed conflict with Turkey over the islands of the Aegean Sea. As Turkish arms companies invest in drones, such weapons will certainly be used against Greece first.
Türkiye is currently undergoing testing at least three powerful combat drones and one 5th generation fighter. Although it is not expected that there will be a war between Greece and Turkey in the near future, the situation may change quickly with the outbreak of a major war in the Middle East. Interestingly, Greece is about to start selling its invention. Perhaps it will come to Ukraine soon.
