In honor of the holiday, the flags of Latvia are raised on the highest television and radio towers

State flags were raised on the highest television and radio towers across the country on Friday, according to the website of the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre.

On the highest flagpole in Latvia and the EU, which is located on the Zakusala TV tower in Riga, the national flag will be raised on the morning of November 18 in the presence of the head of the State Border Guard Guntis Pujats.

Weather permitting, flags will fly at the 15 towers until Tuesday, November 19th.

In Vidzeme, the flags will fly on the towers in Sigulda, Valmiera, Viesit and Cesvaine, in Latgale – in Daugavpils, Rezekne, Vilany, Preili and Livani, in Kurzeme – in Tukums, Ventspils, Liepaja and Dundaga, in Zemgale – in Jelgava. The flag is also raised on the only tower in the historical center of Riga on Erglu Street.
