Zorarganj Thana police arrested the accused Newton after raiding the hilly area of Khagrachari Sadar police station last Sunday night. Later, a team of Zorarganj Thana police recovered 11 pieces of gold ornaments and cash worth Tk 1 lakh 23 thousand from his father-in-law’s residence in Shubopur union of Chagalnaiya upazila of Feni district. Shop owner Krishna Kumar Dhar said, The jewelery shop had 4 employees including Newton. Newton took a job at the store 7 months ago. On the morning of the incident, when the other employees went to shower, Newton stole the gold and cash from the store and fled.
