In Marseille, a kindergarten teacher dies in front of her class after feeling unwell

A tragedy marked the first day of the school year in a nursery school in the 6th arrondissement of Marseille. This Monday morning, a 57-year-old teacher fell ill in front of her Grande Section class, shortly after 8 a.m., in the presence of the parents of the pupils, the rectorate indicated to France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

The incident occurred at the Bergers nursery school, located at 11, rue Perrin-Solliers, near the Notre-Dame-du-Mont church. Despite the rapid intervention of the marine firefighter battalion, the teacher died on the spot. At this time, the cause of her death has not been officially confirmed.

Psychological unit in place

A psychological unit has been set up to support students, parents, and school staff. It will remain active throughout the week in this establishment which welcomes approximately 200 students. The academic director also went on site to provide support to teachers and families.
