Miscreants seriously injured an auto rickshaw driver in Meghna Upazila of Comilla.
The incident took place in Chalibhanga village of the upazila around 8 pm on Wednesday.
The injured Dulal Bhuiyan is said to be an Awami League supporter. And two of the attackers are the sons of the youth leader.
It is known that Dulal Bhuiyan, son of Shahidullah Bhuiyan of Chalibhanga village of Upazila, was returning home from the market on Wednesday at around 8:00 p.m. Jabed, son of Dulal, Zaheer and Mamun, the son of Jubo Dal leader of the same area, blocked the road and beat him with sticks. Later he cut his head and legs with a chapati and seriously injured him. This was confirmed by the brother-in-law of the injured, Habibullah.
The injured Dulal Bhuiyan was taken to the Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex by his family members in a critical condition and the patient’s condition deteriorated. Later the doctor on duty referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
The incident spread panic in the area.
In this regard, Meghna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Jalil said, “I came to know about the incident of breaking the fence. After learning about this I sent the force. No one has come forward to complain yet. Appropriate legal action will be taken if anyone comes forward to complain.”
