In Novosibirsk, two centers will be opened on the right bank: for rehabilitation and leisure of SVO participants

Over the past incomplete year of work in the center of the Leninsky district, 80 servicemen have received a range of services. Each one is engaged in an individual rehabilitation program. As a rule, soldiers are sent to the center after treatment in the hospital. Or the soldiers seek services on their own. Depending on their health, they are given a course that may include physical training on exercise machines, massage, work with a psychologist, exercises on specialized medical equipment, and so on.

Fifty-year-old Ivan from Novosibirsk, a participant in the special operation, was wounded in the left leg during the fighting and was sent on vacation to recover. He is currently in his fourth week of rehabilitation. It will last until August, after which the Siberian will undergo treatment in one of the hospitals of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“The course includes psychological relief, strength exercises, and exercises for general physical fitness. Improved blood circulation promotes faster tissue healing and bone fusion. After treatment, I would like to return to the front, but if my health does not allow it, I would like to be of service to my country here, as a civilian,” said the Siberian.

Up to 60 people can study at the center at the same time. The load is almost full. 40-50 Novosibirsk residents receive services daily, seven days a week. Every second of them is a participant in the SVO. Visitors are received in two shifts, however, military personnel are given priority and an individual schedule of visits is made for them. A mobile team operates in the center, which transports people with limited mobility from home to classes and back.

“One of the SVO participants was bedridden for eight months after being wounded. Then he began to move around in a wheelchair, and for six months now he has been studying with us. Over time, his condition improved. And today he came to us with a cane, but on his own two feet. We cannot but be pleased with such a result of our work,” noted Irina Orlyukova, head of the social services center for the population of the Leninsky District.

Assistance is also provided to family members of SVO participants. For example, the spouse of one of the servicemen is undergoing a course of recovery after coronavirus infection. Visitors to the center, whose procedures take four hours or more, are provided with hot meals. They can also bring lunch with them and heat it up in a specially equipped kitchen-living room.

People come here for health improvement not only from the Leninsky district, but from all over the city. According to Mayor Maxim Kudryavtsev, there are plans to open two more similar institutions on the right bank of the Ob, so that residents of the right bank do not have to spend a lot of time on the road.

“Today I gave the order to create two more such centers. One will be located in the Dzerzhinsky district, and the second in Zaeltsovsky. The premises have already been allocated. I believe that in September we will launch one of the institutions,” the head of the city said.

Funds for opening the centers will be allocated from the municipal budget, added Olga Nezamaeva, head of the social policy department of the Novosibirsk mayor’s office. Major repairs have been completed in one of the institutions, and it is ready for the final finishing of the premises. One of them, like the center on the left bank, is for rehabilitation, the second right-bank center – on Dusi Kovalchuk Street – will become a leisure area in the format of a family club with areas for free communication, sports and training of physical skills of returned fighters.

“This will be a center where people will not only undergo rehabilitation. We want this to be a place where SVO participants will spend time with their families. For this purpose, we will have various recreation areas and an art space equipped,” Olga Nezamaeva noted.
