In our hands is the Fold6 rival Honor Magic V3, which is thinner than an average mobile phone –

We managed to get our hands on Honor’s latest bendable phone, which is thin, fast and very premium – and it will be available in Hungary soon!

Let’s not embellish it, the Honor Magic V2 – although a good mobile phone – was quite late in the domestic market, it was only in February 2024 instead of the summer of 2023. In the case of the Magic V3, which comes as a rival to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, there is no longer any need to expect such a delay, Honor’s premium foldable device will soon arrive in Europe and Hungary.

We managed to get hold of a Chinese copy of this for a quick test to make sure that the device is really as thin and robust as the manufacturer promises.

9.2 mm – folded!

Almost every detail of the Honor Magic V3 has been improved compared to the V2, but what is most striking is the thickness: the Magic V3 is only 9.2 mm when folded and 4.4 mm when unfolded. This is a real engineering masterpiece, its competitors are much larger: the Fold6 is 12.1 mm, the V2 is 9.9 mm. The Magic V3 is thin in your hand, like a normal mobile phone, but when you unfold it, it’s still solid, you don’t have the feeling that it might break in two at any moment.

The external display is extremely bright and has a pleasant width, you can type on it and use it as a normal mobile phone. Inside, the hinge valley is almost barely noticeable (but it’s still there), and the display has become a little brighter.

The mobile is of course powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage space. In addition to the 50 MP main sensor, you get a 40 MP ultra-wide module and a 50 MP periscope camera with 3.5× optical zoom, the selfie camera is 20 MP each on both displays.

Periscopic zoom, a tricky case in the box - but you don't get a charging head for this mobile either

You can charge the 5150 mAh silicon carbide battery at a rate of 66 Watt via cable and at a rate of 50 Watt wirelessly, but unfortunately there will be no charging head in the box. There will, however, be a protective case, into which a support leg has been ingeniously integrated.

With the waterproof IPX8 Magic V3, Honor sets a serious competitor to the Fold6, and this time they are not too late with the release. We don’t know about the domestic pricing and possible promotion yet, but we managed to find out that the model with European firmware will also have new AI functions in MagicOS 8.0.1, and it also guarantees 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security fixes. manufacturer.

The Magic V2 will also remain on the market, and at a better price, so if you are still hesitating which top mobile to surprise yourself with this fall, we advise you to wait for the Magic V3 and try it before you decide – the thickness of 9.2 mm is very held in a persuasive hand.
