In Patia, the local crowd caught Sramik League leader Md. Saifuddin Bhola (48) and handed him over to the police.
Bhola is the vice-president of Patia Municipal Labor League and the son of Md. Ibrahim of Badi Majhi village of Okhara village in Ward No. 1 of the municipality. It is said that on Saturday (August 31) night, locals caught him from his locality and handed him over to the police.
However, some local youth who did not wish to be named said that some leaders of the local BNP and Jubo Dal Chhatra Dal caught him from the area and beat him up and handed him over to the police. He was staying in the area even though there was a case or complaint against him.
Patia police said that there are two separate cases against him in connection with the vandalism and looting of the upazila BNP office on July 18 and the shooting of students in Patia on August 4.
Besides, they also said that there are seven more cases against him in Patia police station, including drugs and women abuse.
When asked about this, Patia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jaseem Uddin said that the locals caught him from his own area and handed him over to the police. The arrested Saifuddin Bhola has been sent to jail through the court on Sunday. He has been sent PR reports of his previous cases in court along with regular cases.
