In pursuit of happiness abroad –

Imagine arriving at a beautiful, peaceful place where you can be at perfect peace with the world. You walk on the sunny, sandy beach, barefoot in the sand. You listen to the roar of the sea. You can feel the salty sea air in your nose. The pleasant sea breeze caresses your face. Are you happy.

Now imagine for a minute that you are lying on your back on the warm, white sand. Looking into the distance, you get lost in the world of colors, images, and sounds. Palm trees shade your face. You close your eyes and as you stretch out, your toes are caressed by the waves of the sea. You are lucky enough to admire the sea for the first time in your life. For the first time, you see, hear and feel this unique magic of nature.

Think of a wonderful place that you have been lucky enough to visit as a tourist. Or maybe it’s enough to just imagine this place dear to your heart. Now think about the fact that you are not just visiting the area as a tourist by renting a car for a week or paying for special offers from the local tourist office. You exist in that fabulous environment that is completely yours. You make local friendships, you use local services, you have local interests in your work, you have local sources of food procurement, you participate in authentic programs, you come and go with local company, and love is also tied to the countryside with strong ties. Something is challenging you… You are completely alone, far from your family and true friends. You have to fit in among strangers who think completely differently. Basically, there is no one you can rely on. It is understandable, if you want to make a good impression on others, you show your light, not your shadow. So, you can’t keep coming with your problems. Better to keep them to yourself. How do you feel? What do you see yourself as? Do you like living abroad?

Time goes by and you find yourself that the daily tasks in this wonderful place of the world are just as absorbed. You come and go, you do your thing. Meanwhile, you are so lonely that you no longer feel like doing anything. The elements of experience known from the travel catalog will be squeezed out of your days in the same way. In the best case, you managed to form friendships, and love found you online. But you might not be so lucky. And it turns out that you wander alone in the places where everyone goes to experience happiness.

The story is now about you, who, abandoning the eternal self-pity, throws yourself into the unknown. He settles by conforming to others. He makes friends with himself. He honestly looks into the mirror of his desires and fears. And overcoming his delicate experiences, he begins to take responsibility for his own happiness. You yourself don’t know what will await you, but you are sure that you have to walk your way because of yourself. But what will this road be like? What challenges do you face? What do you find your happiness in?

Well, that’s how it is… We want to keep our experiences of happiness to ourselves in the rarest of cases. It’s so good to feel that someone else is witnessing our special moments. There is nothing more uplifting than connecting with someone through our experiences. But sometimes you have no one to experience this with. You don’t have to cling to someone watching the sunset. Is there no one to look at in wonder that you see what I see? At all, there is no one to talk to with kind words. How and how can you go in search of happiness at this time? Life abroad is not easier either. You can feel terribly lost there too. But the decision is yours. You can remain an eternal outsider in your adventurous foreign life. Or you can throw yourself into unexpected adventures. You can accept the gifts that life presents to you. With enough openness, you might even get pleasant company, sitting next to you on the road.
