In Riccione the Anemonia exhibition is a journey through time – Living

The photographs of Luigi Ghirri, Claude Nori, Massimo Vitali and Fulvia Farassino, the images of Yuri Ancarani, the words of Isabella Santacroce tell of a Riviera where life is lived intensely, between neon lights and infinite sunsets, where the past merges with the present and memory becomes imagination. The show Anemoia curated by Max Giorgetticreative director of MSGMis a trip to Riccione cradle of hedonism and transgression, but also of sunshine and lightheartedness, “promised land” for generations of holidaymakers, artists and intellectuals. Set up until September 15th in the rooms of Villa Franceschi, home of the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Riccione, the exhibition (born from an idea of Giorgetti and Simone Bruscia, director of Riccione Teatro and TTV) inaugurates the 27th edition of the TTV Festival.

The Greek word ‘Anemoia’ captures nostalgia for a time we never livedfor a past that belongs to us even though we have never passed through it. It is the sensation of looking at old photographs and perceiving the call of a lost era, of feeling on the skin the still burning heat of a distant summer. This is the common thread of a path that develops through the work of six artists: with Massimo Vitali the beaches dotted with kilometres of sunbeds and the discos pulsating with energy and crowds come to life, with Claude Nori the smiles and vitality of the “best youth” of Riccione explode, with Luigi Ghirri a red beach umbrella in the wind evokes the rarefied nostalgia of the winter sea, when waking up is still far away and the beach experiences hibernation between one season and another.

The exhibition was born from an idea by Massimo Giorgetti, creative director of MSGM, and Simone Bruscia, director of Riccione Teatro and the TTV Festival

Each room is a chapter, each whisper a fragment of a story that slowly unfolds. To welcome visitors, Isabella Santacroce’s voice resonates through her most iconic texts, her words create an intimate and enveloping atmosphere which amplifies the intensity of the images. Each artist is linked not only to the Riviera, but also to Giorgetti’s personal or professional history, or to that of other artists, in a network of creative relationships and affinities. An intense black and white shot testifies to the friendship between Luigi Ghirri and Claude Nori, the images by Fulvia Farassino sweetly portray the great Pier Vittorio Tondelli, the visual complicity between Luigi Ghirri and Yuri Ancarani they transcend authors and times creating the impression of a shared corpus.
