On the evening of November 8, the police, driving along Juglas Street from the side of Pales Street, noticed a driver of a “Tesla” who was driving at 116 km/h in a residential area at the permitted 50 km/h.
The driver was stopped by law enforcement officers and fined 1,040 euros and banned from driving.
A short time later, while driving along Gustava Zemgala street, the law enforcement officers caught three drivers – two BMW and one Nissan – who violated the permitted speed limit. In a populated area, at the permitted 70 km/h, the drivers of BMW cars drove at 158 and 159 km/h, while the driver of the Nissan car drove a little slower.
The two drivers of the “BMW” car were fined 1,400 euros and their driving rights were revoked, while the driver of the “Nissan” car was fined 1,040 euros and banned from driving.
About two hours later, the police made another serious speeding violation on the South Bridge. Instead of the permitted 70 km/h, the driver of the “BMW” drove at 159 km/h. This driver was also stopped and fined 1,600 euros, as well as having his driving license revoked.
For exceeding the permitted driving speed by more than 70 kilometers per hour, a fine in the amount of 1400 to 2000 euros can be applied to the driver of the vehicle and the right to drive vehicles is revoked for a period of 12 to 36 months.
