Rosstandart approved GOST standards for laptops for the first time. They describe the safety requirements and required components.

GOST R 71174-2024 for the first time introduces the definitions of laptop, portable, semi-portable and mobile computers, mechanical and virtual keyboards, touch screens and docking stations.

GOST R 71202-2024 contains requirements for electrical and mechanical safety, measures and class of protection against electric shock. It also categorizes laptops by type: general purpose, gaming, educational desktop, mobile graphics station, and special use.

According to the document, laptops must consist of a motherboard, battery, keyboard, touchpad, display and other hardware and software. All components must be in one housing.
