In Russia, GOST has been approved for Internet of Things communications. How it will be applied

MTS has developed a narrowband cellular communication standard for the Internet of Things NB-IoT. It has already been approved by Rosstandart as a GOST.

The document specifies the frequencies at which the equipment should operate, the characteristics of base stations, data transmission parameters and energy saving modes.

We are talking about various sensors in the field of energy, smart cities, agriculture, industry and transport infrastructure. In Rostelecom addedthat the technology is relevant in those industries where it is necessary to collect information from a large number of smart devices (sensors, meters) transmitting small amounts of data.

The document will help participants in public procurement, since “it is easier for both officials and potential contractors to refer to GOST than to prescribe technical requirements on their own.”
