In St. Petersburg, a boat with passengers crashed into a pontoon and sank in the Kryukov Canal

People managed to get ashore on their own.

In St. Petersburg, a boat fell onto a pontoon near the Kashin Bridge in the waters of the Kryukov Canal.

The incident, as reported by the press service of the transport department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Northwestern Federal District, occurred at about 10:20 p.m. last Thursday, June 17. At that moment there were three passengers on board the boat. The press service of the Western Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation clarified that everything happened at the intersection of the Kryukov Canal embankment and Rimsky-Korsakov Street.

After a collision with a pontoon, the boat sank. The boat’s passengers were able to get ashore on their own.

The transport police, investigators and the St. Petersburg Transport Prosecutor’s Office began investigations into the incident. Prosecutors will assess compliance with the rights of passengers and the law on safety during the operation of water transport.

According to 78.ru, one man was injured as a result of the boat incident and was hospitalized with a shoulder wound.

A few hours later, the sunken boat was pulled out from the bottom of the Kryukov Canal.

Earlier it was reported that the boat crashed into the cruiser Aurora in St. Petersburg.
