In St. Petersburg, migrants may be banned from driving buses

The initiative is being promoted by Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Andrei Ryabokon.

Migrants may be banned from getting jobs as public transport drivers in St. Petersburg. This initiative is being promoted by St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Deputy Andrei Ryabokon. The parliamentarian has already approached the city leadership with a proposal, citing numerous complaints from citizens.

According to him, people complain about dangerous driving, poor knowledge of Russian, rude behavior and other violations of passengers’ rights. Ryabokon added that this problem is acute in St. Petersburg, since many private companies, in the race for profit, prefer to hire migrants as cheaper labor.

Ryabokon also proposed increasing payments to transport companies serving social routes in order to make the conditions for hiring Russian citizens as drivers more competitive.
