The allocation of funds for the complete restoration of all four lanes of a section of the road that has long required repairs was commented on by the Deputy Chairman of the Augšdaugava Regional Duma Vitaly Aizbaltswho was pleased with the achieved result.
According to him, together with the Daugavpils self-government, at a meeting with the prime minister, an official letter was submitted that at present this is the worst main state road in Latvia, a section of which has not been rebuilt in recent years. A meeting also took place with the Minister of Transport.
«We also took part in a meeting of the Latgale subcommittee of the Seimas, where we emphasized the importance of this road for our residents, connecting the two largest cities of the country – Daugavpils and Riga, and also that on the right side, if you go to Riga, there will be the Augsdaugava Industrial Park, to which There are two exits from this road.
At the moment, the government has listened to us, and, as we were promised, this road will begin to be built next year. We also agreed on the first stage project in the region – we fought for a long time for turning places, for exits, but now the company Latvijas valsts ceļi has taken into account our objections and suggestions. Now we are waiting for construction“, – said V. Aizbalts.
