EAST SARAJEVO – The public call for employment programs for 2024, which in accordance with the Action Plan will amount to about 10 million KM, is planned for the second half of August at the latest, announced the director of the Employment Agency of the Republika Srpska Damjan Škipina.

According to him, it is planned that five million KM will be earmarked for the employment of young people in the status of trainees, because this year there has been great interest from employers.

Given the fact that there was no realization of the program for trainees last year, apparently the money for trainees was planned in the election year.

Currently, there are about 3,000 persons on the unemployment register who do not have work experience in the profession after obtaining a higher professional qualification, of which 54 persons have the status of children of fallen soldiers. Until now, the Employment Agency has refunded 100 percent of the funds for the children of fallen soldiers, while for other trainees the Agency has refunded 60 percent of the funds and employers the remaining 40 percent.

“Since 2011, and in accordance with the Employment Strategy, the Institute has employed over 40,000 people, for which approximately 170 million KM was spent,” emphasized Škipina.

In addition to the program, great interest in recent years has also focused on work permit applications. The annual quota of work permits for the employment of foreign citizens and stateless persons for the Republic of Srpska is determined by the Management Board of the Institute for Employment of the Republic of Srpska with the consent of the Government of the Republic of Srpska. The quota of work permits is then sent to the Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so that the Council of Ministers can make a final decision.

The established quota of work permits in the Republic of Srpska for the past year is 1,400, of which 1,000 are new and 400 extended work permits. As of July of this year, 1,223 work permits were issued that are part of the quota, of which 1,000 were new and 223 were extended.

According to the data, there are more requests from employers for issuing new work permits and the quota is filled, while there is still room for the quota of extended work permits. At the request of the Union of Employers’ Associations, the Board of Directors of the Institute was proposed to increase the quota for newly issued work permits from 1,000 to 3,000.

“We will have the final decision to increase the quota of work permits for 2024 at the end of July and it will be valid until December 2024, and at the same session the Management Board will make a decision on the quota for 2025,” said the Director of the Institute. Agencies
