The most watched movie this past weekend was the sequel to Pixar Animation Studios and director Kelsey Mann’s In the Head.
It was seen by 213,500 viewers in the Czech Republic, including pre-premiere screenings. In the world already In chapter 2, they managed to take over a billion dollars and became one of 11 animated films that managed to overcome this limit. The second most visited film of the past weekend in the Czech Republic was Zápisník alkoholičky. It follows from the data on website Union of Film Distributors.
New film by director Dan Svátek Notebook of an alcoholic, which, as in the case of his tragicomedy The Smiles of Sad Men, deals with the topic of drinking and alcohol, attracted 223,000 viewers in the two weeks since its premiere and earned almost 40 million crowns in sales. In third place was the fourth installment of the American animated comedy film I, the villain. The film, produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination, was visited by over 332,000 small and large viewers in the three weeks since its Czech premiere.
The first three pictures of the ranking of the past weekend improved the current weak numbers of cinema attendance. More than 296,000 viewers chose one of the top 20 films in terms of attendance last weekend, compared to 233,000 last weekend and 137,228 the week before. Before that, the average attendance in the summer was around 50,000 people for the twenty most visited films.
Jiří Havelka’s new film The Year of the Gardener entered the ranking in fourth place. The bittersweet comedy, in which the husband and wife Oldřich Kaiser and Dáša Vokatá played the main roles, recorded 13,000 viewers over the weekend. In fifth place was the American disaster film Twisters, which was attended by over 5,000 visitors.
From Czech cinematography, Tomáš Hoffman’s comedy The Sweet Life, which was seen by over 191,000 viewers in the 19 weeks since its premiere, is still in eighth place.
On Thursday, July 25, Czech cinemas will offer the American superhero film Deadpool & Wolverine based on the character of Deadpool from the comic book publisher Marvel Comics. It is a sequel to the popular films Deadpool and Deadpool 2.
