In the new beta version of iOS 18.1 you will find iPhone Mirroring and the drag-and-drop function

We count a few days from the moment when Apple has freely released the fifth beta version of iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. These updates mark the debut of the Apple Intelligence service, but there are also some impressive new features. A separate addition is finally allowed to be made the user drag and drop while mirroring their iPhone.

It is true that now iPhone Mirroring is already integrated in iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. This great feature allows you to not only mirror your iPhone screen to your Mac, but also control your phone directly from your computer. When Apple first introduced iPhone Mirroring at WWDC in June, the company emphasized that users could drag and drop between iPhone and Mac displays.

Unfortunately, the drag and drop feature didn’t make it to the initial release of iOS 18 and macOS 15. However, the new iPhone Mirroring feature is available in the developer beta right now, and beta testers can seamlessly transfer files between their iPhones and Macs without the need for AirDrop, cables or cloud services.

If you insist on installing the stable versions of iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 to get this feature, mark your calendar for its release scheduled for October.

Meanwhile, if you’re already running the latest developer betas of iOS 18 .1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, you can get immediate access to the feature. All you need is to enable the iPhone Mirroring app on your Mac and you can drag any supported file from your virtual iPhone to your Mac or vice versa. Moving files, photos and videos is as simple as dragging and dropping between apps on your Mac.
