SEATTLE – Consumers spent a record $14.2 billion on online purchases during Amazon’s two-day sale, which took place on July 16 and 17.
The result exceeded analysts’ expectations, Reuters reports, citing data from Adobe Analytics.
The event, known as Amazon Prime Day, is only available to subscribers of the Prime service, which costs $139 a year, but in return gives discounts on shipping, streaming service and other bonuses, Mina reports.
During the first day of the event, users spent $7.2 billion, which is a record for Amazon’s daily sales.
The total value of online sales during the event last year was 12.7 billion.
Amazon also confirmed that this year’s sales were a record, but so far has not announced any numbers. Biznis.rs
