Synchronous method will save cost and time in rice cultivation and increase the yield. Apart from the conventional method, seed beds of the same variety are prepared in trays, seedlings are transplanted by rice transplanter and harvesting is done by combined harvester.

This method saves labor shortage in rice cultivation, additional cost and time in production. Although the method is new, interest is increasing day by day among local farmers.

Boro Synchronous Farming has been inaugurated on 50 acres of land at Pekua in Cox’s Bazar.
On Tuesday (January 14) at 10 a.m., the inauguration and discussion meeting of 50 acres of paddy cultivation was held in Shilkhali Hazirghona block of the upazila.

The meeting was presided over by Md. Russell, Upazila Agriculture Officer. Pekua upazila executive officer Mohammad Moinul Hossain Chowdhury was present as the chief guest. It was attended by Assistant Agricultural Extension Officer, Assistant Plant Protection Officer, all Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officers, local public representatives, journalists and farmers.

According to Pekua Upazila Agriculture Office sources, in the current financial year 2024-25 under the agricultural rehabilitation program, Bri 74 paddy cultivation was inaugurated in Hazirghona village of Shilkhali Union of Pekua Upazila on 50 acres of land in Boro Synchronization method.

By sowing paddy seeds in plastic trays mixed with topsoil and organic manure, the seeds become ready for transplanting within 20 to 25 days. It does not require additional fertilizer. Planting in trays requires less land.

Seedlings can be planted evenly at the same depth with the rice transplanter machine. As a result the yield also increases. By planting the seedlings together, the paddy ripens together and is harvested together by the combined harvester so that the farmers can harvest the crop at home.

In this regard, Pekua Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Russell said that although the method is new for the farmers, after training the farmers in this regard from the Upazila Agriculture Office, there has been a great interest among them. Apart from solving the labor crisis, it also reduces the time and cost and the incidence of diseases.

He said that in the beginning the interest of the farmers in this cultivation was low, but later after extensive discussion with them about the synchronization method, they became interested. Now there is a huge response among the local farmers.

Meanwhile, the upazila executive officer Mohammad Moinul Hossain Chowdhury said that the number of agricultural workers is decreasing in our country. By creating awareness among farmers to increase the cultivation and production of crops through mechanization in agriculture, the agricultural sector can be taken further if they are interested in farming in this way.
