“In light of the weekend’s events, the President has directed me to work with the Secret Service to ensure the protection of Robert Kennedy Jr.,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said.
Trump also called for Kennedy to be granted protection on Monday. “Given what is happening in the world today, I believe it is imperative that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. they provided Secret Service protection, immediately. Given the history of the Kennedy family, this is clearly the right move,” Trump posted on the social network.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the nephew of the assassinated President John F. Kennedy. His father, Robert Kennedy, was the attorney general in his brother’s government and was also a victim of assassination.
Environmental lawyer Kennedy does not have much chance in the next election, and analysts do not expect him to win a vote in the Electoral College. However, his campaign rallies are quite popular and draw large crowds. Therefore, after the assassination of Trump, the question of Kennedy’s security and the assignment of security guards opened up.
