Industrial production falls in the Eurozone



Industrial production in the Eurozone fell by 0.3 percent in July compared to the previous month.

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) announced the seasonally adjusted industrial production data for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone for July.

Accordingly, industrial production in the Eurozone decreased by 0.3 percent in July compared to June and by 2.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

Market expectations were that Eurozone industrial production would decline by 0.6 percent monthly and 2.7 percent annually.

In the EU, industrial production decreased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis and 1.7 percent on an annual basis in July.

Among EU countries, the biggest monthly industrial production declines in July were in Malta (5.5 percent), Estonia (4.8 percent) and Romania (3.4 percent). The biggest increases were in Ireland (9.2 percent), Croatia (8 percent) and Belgium (7.3 percent).

The largest annual decreases in industrial production were measured in Hungary (6.4 percent), Estonia (5.8 percent) and Germany (5.5 percent). The largest increases were recorded in Denmark (19.8 percent), Greece (10.8 percent) and Finland (6.4 percent).
