Ineos will restart production of the Grenadier after resolving supply issues that caused production to be halted in September.
Autocar writes that the break was due to the fact that supplier Recaro Automotive filed for bankruptcy. Now a “solution has been found” and production of all Grenadier variants is scheduled to restart in January at Ineos’ plant in Hambach, France.
When asked by Autocar who the new supplier is, Ineos said in a statement: “Until the supplier themselves announces, which will happen soon, we cannot name them. We think it is fair that they should be the first to announce the news.”
“It is great news that a solution was found so quickly,” Ineos said. “Automotive supply chains are extremely complex, but we weren’t willing to compromise on quality, so we’re pleased to have found the best possible outcome.”
The restart of production will be a relief for Ineos, as it was on the verge of launching in the critical Chinese market, as well as in Mexico, when production was paused.
“We are now preparing to restart production in early January, and with significant growth in major new markets – including China and Mexico – and significant expansion in the US, we believe 2025 will be our best year yet,” they said in a statement.
According to analysts Jato Dynamics, Ineos sold 847 Grenadiers across Europe (including the UK) between January and the end of August this year, a 35% drop compared to the same period in 2023.
