Siemens Digital Industries Software announced that together with Infineonem are working to interface the Siemens software platform for embedded systems, based on the AUTOSAR Classic R20-11 platform, with the AURIX Tc4x microcontroller from Infineon. This enables automotive OEMs to ensure functional readiness for next-generation performance features in software-defined vehicles.
The growing demand for autonomous driving, ADAS systems, electrification, driving comfort and advanced infotainment systems requires higher computing power, functional safety and cyber security in the automotive industry. This task can only be accomplished with more powerful microcontrollers (such as the AURIX Tc4x) combined with intelligent software platforms that can be integrated into the system development process.
The embedded software teams at Siemens and Infineon are working with technology leader BMW to make the embedded software ready for future generations of Electronic Control Units (ECUs). In addition, Siemens and OEMs have collaborated to introduce a cloud-based software development process for SDVs (Software Defined Vehicles) using Siemens’ advanced embedded software development tools.
Siemens’ collaboration with Infineon is long-standing and highly successful, providing leading automotive customers with powerful microcontrollers with embedded software based on the AUTOSAR system, which is driving the future of software-defined automotive. The first production-ready AURIX Tc4x implementation shows how a consolidated, holistic approach can help deliver the latest technologies that customers demand.
Infineon has been working on the AUTOSAR standard since 2004 and provides AUTOSAR solutions for its own portfolio of microcontrollers, such as the AURIX Tc4x. The collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software aims to deliver advanced microcontrollers equipped with embedded software based on the AUTOSAR standard, enabling OEMs to realize the future of software-defined vehicles.
The latest Capital Embedded AR Classic from Siemens supports the best microcontrollers on the market with the AUTOSAR software platform, enables the multi-core functions, functional and cyber security of AURIX TC4x and provides technologically advanced software with pre-validated functional and cyber security protocols that simplifies the homologation process of OEM manufacturers. Microcontrollers like the AURIX TC4x are key components in the automotive industry, controlling and monitoring a wide range of systems in cars, such as electric powertrain, battery management, ADAS, radar and chassis. Infineon’s AURIX TC4x microcontrollers combine performance and power consumption improvements with the latest trends in virtualization, AI-based modeling, functional and cyber security, and networking capabilities, paving the way for new E/E architectures and the next generation of software-defined vehicles.
