After tobacco, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance is now conducting actual inventory counts simultaneously at 100 addresses in 22 provinces of companies operating in the alcoholic beverage industry. Minister of Treasury and Finance Şimşek said, ‘We continue inspections and field inspections for all sectors within the plan and do not leave any area uncontrolled.’ he said.

Ministry teams continue their inspections against informality in the sectors upon the instructions of the Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek.

After the tobacco and tobacco products sector, the Ministry turned its attention to companies producing alcoholic beverages.

During the summer months, the teams carried out simultaneous actual counts at 26 addresses of 23 cigarette and macaron producing companies in 8 provinces.

Teams consisting of approximately 200 tax inspectors affiliated with the Tax Inspection Board and revenue experts affiliated with the Revenue Administration have now started a simultaneous actual inventory study at 100 addresses of alcoholic beverage manufacturing companies in 22 provinces.

The companies whose stocks were counted this year with the actual inventory study in the tobacco and alcoholic beverage sector were mostly large taxpayers. It was determined that the total turnover of these companies was approximately 100 billion lira.

TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL DEPARTMENT DATA WAS USED

During the audits, the existence of possible tax losses and evasions in terms of SCT, income and corporate tax, VAT and other taxes are investigated due to reasons such as unregistered buying and selling in the sector, illicit liquor production and inventory valuation transactions not being carried out in accordance with the legislation.

During the studies, data obtained from the Tobacco and Alcohol Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was also used. These data were also taken into account in determining the risky taxpayers who were counted.

“FIELD WORKS CONTINUE”

In his assessment of the issue, Minister of Treasury and Finance Şimşek stated that field work continues unabated within the scope of the fight to prevent informality and added:

“Our field inspections of taxpayers operating unregistered within the framework of our principle of justice and efficiency in taxation are intensifying. Taxpayers identified as a result of the actual inventory count will be subject to tax inspection. We continue inspections and field inspections for all sectors within the plan and leave no area uncontrolled.”
