Instagram revolutionizes carousels | OnlineMarketing.de

Anyone who wants to share images in different formats together in a carousel on Instagram will soon no longer have to crop them or use a third-party app. The platform will soon allow content to be shared in its original format.

Instagram has released some exciting new features for the carousel function in recent months – including the ability to share video carousels in the Reels area. In addition, users can now mention individual elements from carousels by tagging them in the comments. This is particularly useful as the platform is also testing the expansion of carousels to 15 to 20 photos or videos. Now another feature has been added that is likely to attract interest: the first users can share images in different formats in their carousel posts.

Portrait, square or original: the choice is yours

Social media expert Lindsey Gamble discovered the feature and shared it on Threads. When posting a carousel, users who have already activated the new feature will have three options: They can post their images as portrait or square as usual. They can also leave the content in its original format with the new original option. This means that images that have different formats can also be posted together in the future.

With this new feature, Instagram saves users the trouble of cutting together images that originally had different formats so that they can be posted together in portrait or square format without cutting off important image elements. The platform thus offers users a way to make their profile content more personalized. Instagram is also focusing on personalization with the new Inspiration Tab and the limited interactions.

Parallel to the launch of the original option for carousel posts, Instagram has also slightly adjusted the posting process for carousels. Previously, users had to first select that they wanted to publish several images in their post – now the option to select different content appears directly. However, this function is not yet available to all users.

Instagram currently has another helpful innovation in store for everyone who runs campaigns on the platform: Creators and companies can use the new option to collect, manage and classify leads from campaigns into sales stages directly in the app.
