It is only thanks to luck that the self-driving car in China did not end in an accident. Based on the security camera recording taken at the beginning of the previous week, Li Auto’s SUV should have parked after the driver got out of it.
He started the maneuver, then rolled forward and backward for 45 seconds, but none of the attempts were crowned with success. He apparently changed his mind and, after failing to finish parking, drove into traffic. Although it cannot be ruled out that he behaved in this way in order to find another parking space, with his unexpected stunt he almost hit two other vehicles.

By the time the driver reappeared on the video, the Li L9 was facing the direction of travel in the middle of the road. Despite the fact that it was not a busy street, it still caused a minor commotion, wrote about the incident Drive. In addition, this is not the first time the Chinese model has been in an unpleasant situation: as we reported earlier, the automatic braking system was misled by a poster.
It follows from all this that the L9’s various driving assistance functions still have room for improvement. Li Auto, which appeared just a few years ago and has been expanding ever since, launched its premium recreational vehicle in 2022, which is still only available on the Chinese market.
Two electric motors also support the 1.5-liter gasoline engine that provides the basis of the plug-in hybrid system, so its total output is 326 horsepower, accompanied by a torque of 530 Nm, although the electric assistance plays a role in increasing the range.
