Intel and Tencent’s joint handheld console – – attacks with a 3D display

Based on Lunar Lake APU, Sunday Dragon 3D One offers immersive viewing without special glasses.

Handheld consoles have become one of the most exciting segments of the hardware market in the last few years, where traditional console manufacturers and PC market players meet software giants. More and more people want to get a piece of the cake for themselves, and therefore they do not hesitate to join forces, after all, together they have a greater chance of succeeding where they might fail individually.

In this spirit, the collaboration between Intel and Tencent was also born, which is the result of a handheld that is still considered experimental (meaning: it is not at all certain that it will ever be launched on the market, or if it is, then exactly in this form).

The device with the fancy name Sunday Dragon 3D One has detachable controllers similar to the Nintendo Switch, but the most exciting part is not this, but the 11-inch panel powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 285V APU, which is not only much larger than the competitors’ solutions, but glasses-free 3D- and promises a spectacle. The Chinese ITHome according to his report, the display equipped with an eye movement sensor updates at 120 Hz, which creates the spatial effect with the help of an image overlapping algorithm. Path of Exile was the first to be named among the games that support the technology and therefore need special optimization.

Based on the measurements so far, Sunday Dragon 3D One’s resource is twice as fast as the APU working in Steam Deck and the original ASUS ROG Ally, and this is accompanied by 32 GB of LPDD5X RAM, so that there are no problems with the performance of the games. The storage space is 1 TB, but it is not yet known what operating system Tencent and Intel have released, nor how big the battery is and how long it will last. All that has been revealed so far about the latter is that it can be charged with 100 W.

As far as control is concerned, the detachable controllers are primarily responsible, but since it seems that there are also Type-A and Type-C USB inputs on the handheld console, the use of a mouse and keyboard, or possibly another controller, is presumably also supported.
