Intel Announces Next-Gen Arc Battlemage GPUs: December Launch

Intel’s Arc Battlemage discrete GPUs and their release dates keep changing as we approach the end of the year; according to earlier rumors, it was revealed that Intel’s upcoming desktop GPUs will launch by the end of November, around the time of Black Friday.

However, based on information published by a well-known data miner Tomas GavrjonjskiIntel is expected to unveil its next-generation Battlemage desktop GPUs in December, as confirmed by an alleged “official teaser” from Intel.

The latest information suggests that Intel’s Battlemage discrete GPUs have either been pushed back from their planned November release, or the company was aiming for a December launch from the start. Given that Intel has decided to launch its “Xe2” desktop GPUs by the end of the year, it’s possible that the company is trying to grab a window of time before the release of next-generation GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD, which would give Intel the opportunity to promote its products earlier. Whether this strategy will be successful remains to be seen.

In addition to the Battlemage series, in a recent post Gavrjonjski also revealed Intel’s development of future Xe3 “Celestial” GPUs, which will be a key part of the next generation of Panther Lake mobile SoCs. Overall, Intel’s GPU lineup is expanding, but the success of the Battlemage series will be crucial to whether we see another series of discrete GPUs. Intel hasn’t given up on its plans for GPU development, but the company has said it will focus more on integrated graphics solutions for its SoCs, which could be the fate of the Celestial “Xe3” series if it isn’t available for desktops.

Intel Announces Next Generation Arc Battlemage GPUs Launching December 2

Intel’s Battlemage series of GPUs will be based on TSMC’s 4nm process and include up to 32 Xe2 cores, up to 16GB of memory and up to 256-bit bus configurations. There have already been significant leaks about this line, including the appearance of the BMG-G21, BMG-G10 and BMG-31 GPU chips. So the Battlemage will have impressive specs.

Intel’s Battlemage arrives in December, while NVIDIA’s “RTX 50” Blackwell and AMD’s “RDNA 4”, or as some call it “UDNA 4”, will launch in January 2025. The coming months will be exciting for the PC industry and its future direction .
