Intel is about to launch its first Battlemage GPU

Intel may be on the verge of launch its first Battlemage series GPU, the Arc B580at least according to some shipping manifests leaked online, while the price of its Arc A770 has dropped to $269 in the US (from us it is still stuck at €310), marking a significant drop and providing another clue to an imminent launch.

The speculationsi on the debut of the Arc B series continues to growalthough official details from Intel remain scarce. An update is expected by the end of 2024 or, at the latest, early 2025, but the company has not yet disclosed information on launch times, technical specifications or price positioning. However, expectations are high, especially if Intel can beat rivals AMD and NVIDIA, which are also working on new GPUs due early next year.

Now the Arc B series is upon us, only the official details from Intel are missing.

The NBD site, which tracks global shipping manifests, published references to a product identified as “INTEL BMG B580”. While the package dimensions don’t appear to be compatible with a standard graphics card, it’s possible that this is an internal component rather than the complete outer packaging. Some believe that this information is not coincidental, but for now there is no official confirmation from Intel.

Rumors suggest that the Battlemage series could offer different configurations. The B5x0 model, for example, is expected to feature up to 14 Xe2 cores, with 12GB or 8GB memory variants. Compare this to the current Arc A580, which has 24 Xe cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, a feature that sets it apart from its NVIDIA RTX 4060 and AMD RX 7600 competitors.

Meanwhile, the price of Acer’s Arc A770 has dropped to $269 in the US, the lowest price recorded in months. This GPU, known for its BiFrost hybrid cooling system, offers 16GB of GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit bus and a speed of 18 Gbps. The price cut seems to indicate that Intel is preparing for the launch of the new Battlemage series, even if in our area the price has remained unchanged.

Leaked specs for the Battlemage series show a range of models with up to 32 Xe2 cores, promising remarkable flexibility for advanced gaming and artificial intelligence applications. If these rumors are confirmed, Intel could finally gain ground in a GPU market dominated by AMD and NVIDIA, adding further competition to an already very competitive sector.
