Intel no longer uses its weakest Laminar cooler

However, boxed Pentium and Celeron CPUs are not left without a cooler.

Intel presented its Laminar cooling series at the beginning of 2022, which still covers the entire desktop processor series, even if the customer insists on the alternative hidden in the box. Moreover, these developments were not bad, but the cooling performance of the Laminar RS1, i.e. the weakest version, was sometimes criticized.

Intel seems to have recognized this, so they announced that they will no longer use the RS1 cooler that came with the Pentium and Celeron CPUs. It is replaced by the better RM1, which is virtually identical in size but provides more efficient heat dissipation.

The company interprets the change as immediate, and only the RM1 will be shipped to retail partners, including those boxed Pentium and Celeron CPUs that come with a factory cooler. At the same time, due to previously sold stocks, the RS1 may remain available in stores for a little while longer.
