Intel is reportedly planning to unveil the Battlemage GPU as early as December. If confirmed, the company could overtake rivals AMD’s RDNA 4 and Nvidia’s Blackwell
Other leaks suggest that Intel is preparing to unveil its next-generation Battlemage GPU as early as December. The information comes from leaker Tomasz GawroĊski, who shared the teaser from the Japanese blog Gazlog. Although the authenticity remains uncertain, this, along with previous reports, makes it more likely that Intel will introduce its new GPU before AMD’s RDNA 4 and Nvidia’s Blackwell launch.
Battlemage first appeared this year in conjunction with Intel’s Lunar Lake chips. Although Intel has been rather tight-lipped about the Arc GPU since then, the news about the upcoming GPUs inspires optimism. Benchmarks show that Intel is catching up with AMD, and if Battlemage can hold its own against RDNA 3.5, it could become an interesting player in the market. However, RDNA 4, which promises significant improvements in ray tracing and hardware upscaling, could overtake Intel after all.
Intel is reportedly preparing three Battlemage GPU models: Arc BMG-31, BMG-20 and BMG-G10. The highest model could contain up to 32 Xe cores. However, to succeed against established brands Nvidia and AMD, Intel will need to offer a more affordable solution. According to leaks, that’s what he plans to do. It is the price that is quite a decisive factor for ordinary users.
If Intel does indeed introduce Battlemage in December and can ship it before the holidays, it may gain a head start. Competing RDNA 4 and Blackwell are not expected until CES in 2025. This could help Intel quite a bit.
