International companies have started offering medical liability insurance in Estonia

Medical malpractice liability insurance, which will become mandatory in Estonia from November 1, was offered only by PZU Kindlustus among local insurance companies, but the shortage of offers on the local market attracted international insurance companies represented in Estonia by insurance brokers, reports rus.err.ee.

These companies included the British Howden, which is represented in Estonia by Howden Kindlustusmaakler OÜ, operating in the markets of Scandinavia and Poland Northern1, as well as Vandeni Kindlustusmaaklerid

The head of Howden Kindlustusmaakler, Andri Saarm, told Delfi that the company is urgently preparing insurance proposals, since the law on compulsory medical liability insurance will come into force on November 1, and by December 1, 1,600 healthcare providers in Estonia will have to conclude such contracts.

According to Saarma, the unpredictability of insurance payouts in Estonia is not an obstacle for Howden, since a possible loss would be insignificant for a company with an annual turnover of three billion British pounds and profits of a billion pounds.

Through Northern1, which offers clinical research insurance in Estonia and Scandinavia, as well as dental and medical insurance in Poland and Denmark, medical liability insurance in Estonia will be offered by Newline Insurance, a corporation operating in 80 countries.
