The International Court of Justice (ICJ) said on Friday that Israel’s settlement policy, as well as its use of resources in the Palestinian territories, violate international law. He called Israel’s continued presence in the Palestinian territories illegal. He considers the Israeli occupation of these territories to be “de facto annexation”. TASR informs about it based on a Reuters report.
The court, based in The Hague, Netherlands, stated this in an independent advisory opinion that it prepared at the request of the UN General Assembly. He also stated that Israel systematically discriminates against Palestinians in the occupied territories. According to the court, Israel’s practices violate the Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
