“For me, this is an additional motivation to continue to prove myself”
After a great half-season in Serie A, Marija Ana Milinković today revised her existing contract with the black and blue and became one of the the highest paid female players ever from the Balkans. A new three-year contract with the Italian giant Inter is confirmation of the fantastic talent of our Paljana woman.
Marija, revising and significantly increasing the contract after only six months with Inter is a huge recognition. How are you feeling?
– I am very happy. For me, this is an additional motivation to continue to prove myself. I know I can do even more and even better. From the moment I arrived in Milan, everything went so fast. I enjoy every game and feel that I am part of something big – Marija is satisfied.
Inter overcame Sampdoria 5:0 in the first round with you as the defense commander. It seems that Inter is one of the serious contenders for the title in Italy this season?
– This season we are in really great shape and I think we have everything we need to fight for the title. I feel great on the field, especially with the support of my teammates and coaching staff, which gives me additional confidence. Every victory gives us even more faith in what we do and we hope to continue like this. Our goal is always to fight for the top of the table and I will always do my best to make Inter where it deserves to be – says Marija Milinković with a smile.
Inter do not hide their satisfaction about the new agreement with Milinković.
– Marija is already one of the leaders of our team. From the moment she arrived, she showed an incredible level of commitment and professionalism, which is clearly visible on the field. Everyone at the club adores her as a person, and her maturity in the game and leadership give us the certainty that she will very soon become one of the best European players. Her energy and desire to progress are incredible and with her we are convinced that we are on the right path to great success – said Leonardo Bonomi, Inter’s sports director.
Marija, your journey from winter to today was full of ups and downs and big decisions. Who are the people whose support was most important to you during this period?
– I really feel very happy and I am grateful to everyone who was with me on this journey. Every coach I worked with helped me improve as a player. My brother Milan is my biggest support and is often by my side, while my mom and dad are a huge and daily support. Also, I owe a special thanks to my agent Darko Marić. He is great at his job, he sees everything in advance, so he knew how to guide me even when I wasn’t sure if I was ready to move and live abroad. His support and the support of my family were crucial when I finally decided to move to Italy. Everything that is happening now is confirmation that we made the right decision, and for that I am extremely happy – our Paljanka finished.
